This study aimed to enhance the medical English learning abilities of clinical students at a Chinese university, focusing on their attitudes and strategies towards medical English learning. The ultimate goal is to improve their overall performance, interest, and proficiency in this area, thereby making medical English learning more efficient and effective within the university. The participants in this quantitative research comprised 400 clinical students from a Chinese university. The findings indicated that across all three dimensions of medical English learning attitude—cognitive, emotional, and behavioral—clinical students exhibited stronger performance in both cognitive and emotional aspects but demonstrated weaknesses in the behavioral aspect. Furthermore, respondents showed greater proficiency in social and metacognitive techniques compared to the other four dimensions of medical English learning strategies. They displayed intermediate skills regarding compensatory, cognitive, and memory methods while exhibiting weaker capabilities concerning affective strategies. Notably, there exists a highly significant relationship between medical English learning attitudes and strategies.
